The Payroll Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship

The GPA is committed to the development of payroll professionals. We are excited to announce the launch of the Payroll Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme. To continue our ongoing commitment to the payroll profession, we have written and developed the bespoke GPA Apprenticeship programme specifically to the Apprenticeship Standard in association with payroll consultant Kate Upcraft.

Course Description

Delivered with a blended learning experience, integrating online course modules and tutor-led classes, the course covers four Core module groups:

  • Payroll Core
  • Payroll Technical
  • Pensions for Payroll
  • Regulation and Compliance

Each learner will have their progress overseen via the purpose-built GPA TAG Assessment tool.

At level 3, this programme offers an entry point for anyone currently working in a payroll function, in HR or wider finance, or for those who are looking to begin a career in payroll.

The Apprenticeship Programme is for new and existing employees, this is the perfect solution for training your payroll team.

Around 18 months, depending on existing payroll experience.

Is your company’s annual payroll bill above £3M? If yes, your company pays the Apprenticeship Levy and you can use these funds. The funding band is £9,000.

If not, your company can access 95% funding from Co-Investment Fund.

Often referred to as EPA, this point comes when the apprentice has completed all sections of their course and their Mentor is confident that they have the skills and knowledge to pass the final assessment.

The assessment is carried out by an external organisation who will visit and may require completion of some daily tasks or may even request a presentation.

The tutor will work closely with apprentices to ensure they are fully prepared for EPA and equipped with the mindset and skillset to pass the final assessment.
